Founded in 1772, Veuve Clicquot has become famous under the leadership of widow Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin since 1805. Her motto 'only one quality, the finest' still guides the world's second-largest champagne house. The dominance of pinot noir (50-55%) provides the structure typical of Veuve Clicquot, while a touch of meunier (15-20%) rounds out the blend. Chardonnay (28-33%) adds the elegance and finesse. Grapes from as many as 50-60 different crus go into Yellow Label's blend. To achieve the consistency year after year that makes Yellow Label so instantly recognisable, the blend contains 30-45% reserve wines from previous vintages. The iconic yellow label - now the most recognisable colour in Champagne - dates back to 1877 to easily distinguish the then-new brut champagne from the sweeter bottles in the cellars. This distinct colour of the label perfectly embodies the house's pioneering heritage and bold joie-de-vivre. Colour: Golden yellow with playful, dynamic bubbles Fragrance: Yellow and white fruit, followed by notes of vanilla and brioche. Flavour: Fruity, fresh and powerful with pear, citrus and notes of longer bottle ageing, working towards a lovely vinous finish full of diverse fruit and almond.
